This from TechCrunch signals a significant correction in the coverage of a key area of mobile advertising:
When you think about mobile advertising, you might think the iPhone or Android are the hot platforms (thanks to ads like this). But you’d be wrong.
Some new December data from the mobile advertising company Smaato suggests that it’s actually Symbian that kills both the iPhone and Android. Now, I know what you’re thinking: that’s because Nokia, despite the buzz surrounding the sexier smartphone devices, remains the biggest mobile player in the world. But actually, the numbers are for the all-important click-through rates on the various platforms.
The chart is indexed to 100. Smaato also notes, Techrunch reports, that the CTR in the U.S. are higher for Symbian, though on a much smaller scale “since Nokia isn’t as popular here.”
Smaato are one of the largest mobile ad networks with over 3 billion ads served each month.

It’s also interesting to note at the other end where Blackberry is lowest.

I was really cheered that Techcrunch reported this – in fact drew everyone’s attention to it. Amazing that it drew some negative comment on TC but the editors did a great job of seeking out the information and challenging assumptions.
This is very interesting.
If I understand it correctly, it’s saying something about the “average” user of a Symbian-based phone (being more likely to click-through) as much as it’s saying something about the intrinsic nature of Symbian-based phones
Yes – or could it be saying something about the ads?
