Symbian needs you!

Anyone who pops along to http://developer.symbian.org will notice a change.

Until recently, that site has been running an invite-only beta.  If you hadn’t received a userID and password from Symbian, you couldn’t get in.  But now you can.

Open for betaOur testing of the site has proceeded, day by day.  The site is far from finished, but we believe it’s now ready to enter a public beta state.

The first thing you’ll see at the site is a registration screen.

Please sign in

If you were part of the invitation-only beta, and you already went through the registration process, you can use the same account details here. Otherwise, you can click the “Register” button.

(For the time being, there’s no anonymous browsing of the site.)

Once you’ve completed the registration process, you’ll reach the main screen of the site itself:

Symbian needs you

The message on that screen is well worth reiterating:

Symbian needs you!

  • There is code, bug-tracking, reference documentation, a wiki and forums.
  • Now we need the ideas, enthusiasm and skills that will bring it all to life.
  • Get involved!

By the way, there are plenty more changes to come. Some are already in our pipeline of intended upgrades. Others will be pleasant surprises to us: they’ll be improvements that the community as a whole makes.
